Other Simulation Websites

The following simulation websites provide multiple resources for your simulation program.

Center for Geriatric Clinical Simulations — The Center for Geriatric Clinical Simulations was developed by the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill. The purpose of the Center is to disseminate innovative, evidence-based clinical simulations involving older adults, focusing on the educational needs of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants. Simulations cover scenarios ranging from acute exacerbations of chronic conditions to sentinel events, such as falls. Select clinical simulations incorporate interdisciplinary content that facilitates communication between nurses and physicians. You must register for this site (free).

Debrief 2 Learn Website:This website was developed by a group of interprofessional simulation educators and researchers who have a passion for feedback and debriefing.  You will find research articles, resources, blogs and podcasts along with the PEARLS debriefing tool.

International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation & Learning (INACSL) — The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning is the global leader in transforming practice to improve patient safety through excellence in healthcare simulation.

INACSL COVID-19 Resources
In response to COVID-19 many healthcare programs have move face-to-face learning to a virtual or distance platform. INACSL has provided a list of virtual learning resources for the healthcare simulation community.

INACSL Best Standards of Practice
The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) has developed the INACSL Standards of Best Practice.

Repository of Instruments used in Simulation Research
The INACSL Research committee has provided a list of categorized citations.

NCSBN Simulation Study — NCSBN conducted a landmark, national, multi-site, longitudinal study of simulation use in prelicensure nursing programs throughout the country. Collaborating with learning institutions across the U.S., NCSBN embarked on a research initiative exploring the role and outcomes of simulation in pre-licensure clinical nursing education.

NCSBN Simulation Guidelines for Pre-licensure Nursing Programs

National League for Nursing Simulation Innovation Resource Center (SIRC) — The purpose of the SIRC project, a collaborative alliance between the NLN and Laerdal Medical, is to develop a community of nurse educators who can effectively use simulation to promote and evaluate student learning and who dialogue with one another in an effort to advance simulation in nursing education.

NLN Teaching Resources and Simulation — The National League for Nursing (NLN) has multiple simulation and teaching resources for nursing programs including the Advanced Care Excellence unfolding case studies for simulations.

Advancing Care Excellence for Patients with Disabilities (ACE-D)
Advancing Care Excellence for Seniors (ACE-S)
Advancing Care Excellence for Alzheimer’s Patients and Caregivers (ACE-Z)
Advancing Care Excellence for Veterans (ACE-V)
Advancing Care Excellence for Pediatrics (ACE-P)

NLN Vision Series: Debriefing Across the Curriculum — A living document from the National League for Nursing in Collaboration with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL)

Nurse of the Future Simulation Website — This site is from the Massachusetts Nurse of the Future and gives simulations that can be used for free.

QSEN Resources for Simulation — QSEN has resources on 4 different subject matters: Pre-Briefing; Simulation Scenarios; Debriefing; and Simulation Evaluation.

Sim Ghosts — Sim Ghosts’ mission is to empower simulation technology specialists through training events, online resources, and professional development.

TheSimTec - The simtech's goal is to become an 'online hub' for sharing ideas and information for all things related to medical simulation. You will find free medical simulation scenarios, an audio/visual stimuli database where you will find high quality image, video and audio files to use in your scenarios, moulage information, docuuments/templates used at simulation labs,

.Society for Simulation in Healthcare — Mission: The SSH will lead in facilitating excellence in (multi-specialty) healthcare education, practice, and research through simulation modalities. National Simulation Group. Certification Exam and Preparation for Healthcare Simulation Educator. White Paper on Inter-professional Simulation.

The Center for Health Sciences Interprofessional Education, Research and Practice (University of Washington) — Fully developed interprofessional simulation scenarios available for free download, customization and use.

Teaching with Simulation Lessons: Are you intimidated by the word “simulation”? Teaching with simulation has gained its popularity due to its positive impact on student outcomes. Simulation modules here are lessons to train you how to teach effectively with simulation. It covers the basics to advanced applications.
